Appendiceal Mucocele: CT

Appendiceal mucocoeles occur when there is abnormal accumulation of mucus within the appendix.  They result from chronic appendiceal obstruction that may be caused by either benign or malignant lesions. CT shows well-circumscribed, low-attenuation, spherical or tubular mass contiguous with the base of the cecum
