Gender and Radiologists-ACR Workforce Survey

"According to Bluth et al: As part of the 2014 ACR Human Resources Commission Workforce Survey, 78% of the radiology workforce is male, and 22% female. Among the men, 58% work in private practice, and 18% in the academic/university environment; among women, percentages were 43% and 31%, respectively. (Reference Article Below)"

If this number is calculated in India, Radiology is one of the top choices for lady Doctors considering the ease  of working hours and life style advantage. Probably in older times myths about radiation exposure  could have contributed to lesser  women opting for radiology. I don't think this is the case in fresh residency posting in India, women surely opt for radiology.  Similar to US, women do prefer academic setting as compared to hardcaore private setting. -
