Unexpected Bowel Intussusception Caused by Metastasis-CT

Known case of fibrosarcoma of thigh with clinical suspicion of small bowel obstruction on CT shows small bowel loops are dilated with relatively collapsed large bowel. Distal small bowel loop show eccentric thickening with target like/sausage appearance in the right lower abdomen- which may be indicative of tumour deposit with associated intussusception.

Small bowel intussusceptions are secondary to benign lesions in most cases. Small bowel malignant lesions (either primary or metastatic) account for only 6% to 30% of all small bowel intussusception cases.
