IOM Report Calling For Medical Education Reform

Govt Spends $15 Billion to Train Incompetent Doctors - Fiscal Times Reports
"The government spends about $15 billion every year on physician training programs that a panel of highly respected medical experts says may not actually be producing quality doctors. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) issued a report this week concluding that the current system is failing and must be reformed."
They have made an interesting point and think of nations like ours (India) where we just copied the medical education system of the west, and with no metrics on how well the Doctors are being trained and are they actually justifying the public money spent on training.   But this calls for strong and paradigm shift decision making. When we were training we always felt that the system was way too much theoretical and we lacked actual practical skills required out of the physician at the time of passing out.
